Château de la Leonardsau, Listed historical monument in Obernai, France.

Château de la Leonardsau is a castle near Obernai with Renaissance-inspired architecture, featuring towers and decorated facades across multiple wings. The building sits within a nine-hectare park that surrounds the entire property.

Baron Albert-Louis-Eugene de Dietrich purchased the estate in 1896 and built the present castle in phases from 1899 to 1929. This construction period reflected both his growing wealth and the architectural trends of that era.

Charles Spindler decorated one salon in 1902 with Art Nouveau elements that remain part of the room's character today. This artistic work shows how international art movements shaped the taste of the local upper class.

The nine-hectare park surrounding the castle is open to visitors daily during daylight hours year-round and welcomes walks through the grounds. You should be ready for variable paths and wear warmer clothing during cooler seasons.

The 1971 film 'La Décade Prodigieuse' starring Orson Welles, Marlene Jobert, and Anthony Perkins was filmed on the castle grounds. This Hollywood connection shows how the location attracted international film productions.
