The grand organ of Nancy Cathedral features four keyboards and 65 stops, offering extensive sound possibilities across multiple musical registers and tones.
Nicolas Dupont constructed the original organ in 1756, dedicating eight years to create what became the largest instrument in the Duchy of Lorraine.
The organ maintains its central role in religious ceremonies and musical performances, continuing a tradition of sacred music spanning over 250 years.
The instrument occupies the entire width of the organ gallery above the central doorway, making it visible to all visitors of the cathedral.
The organ contains a remarkable combination of components, with 35% from Cavaillé-Coll and 37% from Dupont's original eighteenth-century construction.
