Maison des Sœurs Macarons, Historic macaron house in Nancy, France
The Maison des Sœurs Macarons is a multi-story townhouse with an ornate entrance gate bearing the initials A and G. The building sits at 10 rue des Sœurs-Macarons and houses a shop selling traditional confections and local products.
The house was built in 1725 by architect Jean-Nicolas Jennesson for a Lorraine official. Over the centuries it changed hands several times before becoming linked to macaron production.
The building retains two original ovens that connect it to Nancy's long confectionery tradition. These spaces still show how the sisters produced their famous sweets across generations.
The shop sells traditional Lorraine macarons and regional products from this location. Visitors should note that opening times vary on weekdays and it's worthwhile checking current hours before visiting.
The building contains a restored stained-glass window from 1889 depicting a nun, created by Ferdinand Gounon. After years stored away, this artwork was reinstalled in 2020 and is now visible to visitors.
