The small granite islet of Île Vierge stands in the waters off the coast of Brittany, marked by its white stone lighthouse rising against the sky.
The construction of the 82.5-meter lighthouse on Île Vierge began in 1897, requiring skilled stonemasons to complete the structure, which began operations in 1902.
The lighthouse represents the maritime heritage of Brittany, where generations of keepers maintained this crucial navigation point for ships crossing the English Channel.
Visitors can reach the island via boat services from Aber Wrac'h port, with tours available from April to October, including access to climb the lighthouse's 397 steps.
The interior walls of the lighthouse feature opaline glass tiles manufactured by Saint-Gobain, creating an exceptional play of light throughout the spiral staircase.
