Croix de l'Évangile

The metal cross stands on a cement base at the intersection of Evangile and Aubervilliers streets in northern Paris, reaching approximately 2 meters in height.

This religious monument, first documented in 1540 as part of a pilgrimage route to Aubervilliers, underwent reconstruction in 1860 following damage during the French Revolution.

Local residents maintain the cross by regularly placing flowers and candles around its base, which features a marble plaque detailing the monument's history.

Visitors can access the cross using Paris metro lines 7 to Crimée station or line 12 to Marx Dormoy station, located near the railway bridge exit.

The Croix de l'Evangile represents the last remaining calvary cross within Paris city limits, surrounded by a small garden with grass, flowers, and shrubs.
