St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Obernai, Historical church in Obernai, France.

St. Peter and St. Paul's Church is a neo-gothic building roughly 75 meters long, displaying tall arches and carefully worked stone details across its exterior. The interior is lit by large windows and shows a well-ordered architectural structure with vertical lines that draw the eye upward.

This building rose between 1865 and 1870 under architect Eugène Petiti's supervision and replaced an older 15th-century gothic sanctuary that was demolished in 1867. Original stained glass windows from that earlier church were preserved and restored during renovation work between 1895 and 1896.

Saint Odile, the patron saint of Alsace, holds a special place in local devotion and is venerated within these walls. This connection shows how deeply the church is tied to the region's religious identity and daily spiritual life.

The best way to explore the interior is to walk slowly and take time to observe the windows and frescoes in the choir area. Remember that this is an active place of worship, so moving quietly and respectfully during your visit matters.

A special vessel inside holds the heart of Monseigneur Freppel, the former Bishop of Angers, in a unique memorial within the church space. This unusual preservation is a rare and touching reminder of an important religious leader from more recent times.
