Musée archéologique Arkéos, Archaeological museum in Douai, France

Arkéos is an archaeological museum in Douai that presents finds from the early Stone Age through the medieval period. The exhibits are organized in chronological sections showing objects and tools from various periods of human settlement in the region.

The archaeological section of the Musée de la Chartreuse in Douai closed in 2010, and its collections were transferred to the Douaisis agglomeration. Arkéos opened on 21 June 2014, bringing together the old museum's holdings with finds from excavations carried out in Douai between 1970 and 2002. The museum takes its name from the association Arkéos, which supported local archaeology.

The museum's name comes from the Arkéos association, which supported municipal archaeology in Douai. Its collections include the old archaeological holdings of the Musée de la Chartreuse, most coins once kept at the municipal library, and finds from excavations carried out between 1970 and 2002.

The museum and the reconstruction park are linked by a footbridge over the Scarpe, so plan to cross to the park after the indoor galleries. The park covers nearly 75,000 m² outdoors, with buildings still being added over the years, so allow time to walk between reconstructions. The site lies on the right bank of the Scarpe, across the communes of Douai and Râches.
