Monument national de la victoire de la Marne

The Monument national de la victoire de la Marne is a concrete monolith in Mondement-Montgivroux that rises about 36 meters high with pink aggregate sourced from the Moselle region. A winged figure crowns its summit, while its base is decorated with relief sculptures depicting scenes from the battle.

The memorial was erected to commemorate the First Battle of the Marne in September 1914, when French forces stopped the German advance toward Paris at this strategic point. This victory became a turning point in the war and established the site as a symbol of French resistance.

Each year on the first Sunday of September, military attachés, historians, and local residents gather here for ceremonies honoring the battle. These gatherings bring together people from different backgrounds who share a connection to this historic site.
