The museum was established by art collector Jean Amiot and opened in November 2011 within Beaune's center. It remained open until January 2018, serving as a venue dedicated to surrealist art during that period.
The collection featured multiple artistic mediums including watercolors, drawings, original prints, gouaches, paintings, sculptures, and furniture pieces by Salvador Dali.
