Château de Marcellus, Historical castle in Marcellus, France

The castle stands prominently over the Garonne Valley with a U-shaped layout featuring two classical pavilions and dedicated service buildings.

The land belonged to Henri de Navarre until 1581, when he sold the medieval fortress to Aymeric de Gasq, leading to reconstruction.

The interior spaces contain paintings from 1775 by Joseph Antoine, with a notable equestrian representation of Henri IV discovered on site.

The castle received monument status in 1986, protecting its facades, roofs, entrance pavilions, and significant interior decorative elements.

Two northern pavilions connected by an arcade-supported terrace were transformed into a chapel and library during the reconstruction period.
