Turenne lime tree, Historical lime tree in Fontaine, France.

The Turenne lime tree stands next to the town hall of Fontaine in the Territory of Belfort, measuring 8 meters in circumference and 20 meters high.

On December 29, 1674, Marshal Turenne stopped at this tree before leading his troops to victory against the Imperial forces at Mulhouse.

The French government designated this lime tree as a classified site in April 1911 for its artistic value and historical connection to Marshal Turenne.

Visitors can reach the tree by following a marked forest trail from the container parking lot on Rue d'Alsace, near Lacollonge, covering 7.84 kilometers.

In 1985, the tree underwent a specialized two-week surgical intervention to preserve its structure, including root treatment and selective branch pruning.
