The German military constructed this fortress during World War II with the intention of housing the V3 cannon for launching attacks on London.
The site combines military heritage preservation with natural conservation efforts, offering guided tours that explain both historical structures and local ecology.
The reserve extends over 1.57 hectares and features walking paths that allow visitors to observe both the historical structures and resident wildlife populations.
The fortress houses the main bat hibernation site in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, with documented presence of eleven different bat species including Rhinolophus ferrumequinum.
