Cimetière militaire italien de Soupir, Military cemetery in Soupir, France.
The Italian Military Cemetery of Soupir holds approximately 600 graves of soldiers who died fighting in the Chemin des Dames sector. The headstones are arranged in neat rows and display the names and units of those buried here.
This cemetery was established in 1918 to honor soldiers of the 2nd Italian Army Corps who served under General Alberico Albricci. Most casualties fell during heavy fighting in this sector during World War I.
Two bronze books designed by sculptor F. Cian display the names of soldiers from the 3rd and 8th divisions. They stand at the center of the site and serve as a focal point for remembrance.
The cemetery is easily accessible from the road and welcomes visitors throughout the year. You can walk through the rows of graves at your own pace and take time for quiet reflection.
The cemetery documents the price paid by Italian forces on this front sector, recording losses that are less well-known outside Italy. It preserves an important chapter of the Italian military experience during the war.
