Maison du Temple de l'Eau

The Maison du Temple de l Eau is a residence in Cherveix-Cubas built on the foundations of a former Templar estate from the 18th century. The structure features stone walls, sloped roofs, and a square stone staircase, with architectural elements spanning multiple periods.

The house was built during the 18th century on the remains of a Templar commandery and preserved elements from the former Saint Blaise chapel. This transformation shows how religious sites were repurposed into domestic spaces in later periods.

The dining room displays a pebble floor decorated with Templar symbols, and an inscription from the early 1600s appears on one wall. These details reflect the spiritual heritage and religious traditions connected to the property.

The building received protected monument status in 1975, with its facades, roofs, internal staircase, and decorated dining room floor under protection. Visitors should check access conditions beforehand, as this remains a private residence.

The house retains original religious artifacts from the chapel period, including a door, holy water font, and altar stone integrated into the living space. These sacred objects repurposed within a home create an unusual connection between spiritual and domestic use.
