Château de Calvières

Château de Calvières is a manor house in Vézénobres with a central building and two side wings arranged around a courtyard. Terraced galleries extend around this space, linking the different sections of the property together.

The mansion was built between 1746 and 1755 by architect Guillaume Rollin for the Marquis de Calvière, replacing a former convent on the site. Official recognition as a historical monument came in 1947, protecting the main house along with its outbuildings and chapel.

Rooms inside feature Persian tapestries that decorate the walls, while a gallery displays Roman artifacts found in the surrounding area. These collections reflect the long history of occupation at this location.

The property is easily visible from the outside, with its terraces and wings providing clear spatial layout that is straightforward to explore. Visitors can appreciate the overall composition from different vantage points and understand how the complex relates to the surrounding landscape.

A small theater from the Louis XV period sits within the property, featuring substantial alterations made during the early 1800s. This overlooked feature reveals the original owners' taste for refined entertainment and cultural pursuits.
