Château de Goutelas

Château de Goutelas is a Renaissance castle in Marcoux featuring an H-shaped layout with decorative porches and a grand interior staircase. The chapel inside contains restored wall frescoes that reflect the building's original artistic details.

The castle was built in the 16th century by Jean Papon in the Massif Central region. It underwent complete restoration in 1961 when volunteers from the community invested over 150,000 hours of work to bring it back to life.

The castle serves as a cultural meeting place today, hosting exhibitions and performances in its rooms. These events bring together artists and visitors around themes of human creativity and artistic expression.

The castle is located on Route de Goutelas in Marcoux and offers ample parking for visitors. Cultural events and exhibitions take place throughout the year, giving visitors various reasons to return at different times.
