Château de Toury-Lurcy

Chateau de Toury-Lurcy is a castle featuring a striking circular tower about 25 meters tall and 10 meters across, accompanied by later additions with slate roofs. The complex includes stables, a forge, a dovecote, and corner turrets, all of which are historically protected.

The castle originated in the 13th century but underwent major rebuilding around 1776, incorporating materials from the earlier fortress structure. This substantial reconstruction shaped the appearance visitors see today.

The ground floor salon displays wallpaper with arabesque patterns from the Veuve Mader manufacture, created in 1831 with floral and animal designs. These decorative walls show the taste of the wealthy family who lived here.

The castle can be viewed from departmental road 22 and is easily spotted from the roadway. Access to the park and grounds is available for visitors, though one should be mindful of the protections in place for this historical site.

During renovation work in the park, construction workers uncovered a cache of coins dating to the 14th and 15th centuries, leading to that location being called 'the treasure'. This archaeological discovery speaks to the long history of the estate.
