Château Barrière, Medieval castle ruins in Villamblard, France.

The castle features a substantial donjon with a parapet walk supported by corbels and Renaissance shells carved between supporting elements.

The structure, first documented in 1312, underwent multiple construction phases from the 12th to 15th centuries under the ownership of the Barrière family.

The castle chapel transformed into a Protestant temple in the 16th century when Jeanne de Lur converted to the Huguenot faith.

Visitors can explore the remaining medieval architecture, including the 13th-century tower and entrance gate, accessible through Avenue Édouard Dupuy.

A natural spring fed the rock-carved moats surrounding the fortress, creating an advanced defensive system for its time period.
