Église Saint-Rémy de Baccarat, Gothic Revival church in Baccarat, France.
Église Saint-Rémy is a church in Baccarat featuring a triangular bell tower built in concrete and containing three bells. The building has two levels, with the main sanctuary above and a lower level housing additional sacred spaces.
This church was built in the 19th century but destroyed by bombing in 1944, then reconstructed afterward. The rebuilding between 1953 and 1957 was designed by architect Nicolas Kazis.
The interior displays sculptures of the twelve Apostles, each identifiable by symbols that viewers can recognize as they walk through. These figures shape how the sacred space feels and looks to those visiting.
You can explore the building by walking through both levels to see all the spaces inside. Taking time to move between the upper and lower areas helps you experience the full layout of the church.
The interior lighting comes from 4000 Baccarat crystal tiles cut into over 20000 pieces and set into the concrete. These small fragments create more than 150 different color tones that gently refract and reflect light throughout the space.
