National Gendarmerie Museum, Military museum in Melun, France
The National Gendarmerie Museum displays more than 2,000 objects across 1,200 square meters of exhibition space, documenting French law enforcement history.
The museum first established in 1946 underwent a complete transformation between 2007 and 2015, following agreements between defense authorities and local administration.
The museum collection contains 30,000 artifacts, including photographs, documents, and equipment that represent the evolution of French law enforcement methods.
Located at 1-3 rue Emile Leclerc, the museum charges 7 euros for regular admission and offers audio guides for an additional 2 euros.
The facility features Europe's largest suspended display case, measuring 18 meters in length and 8.5 meters in height.
