Parc des Beaumonts, Urban park in Montreuil, France
The Parc des Beaumonts is a 24 hectare green space in Montreuil with meadows, forests, and wetlands forming a connected landscape. These different zones support a diverse mix of plants and animals in their natural habitats.
The land was once a gypsum quarry where workers mined plaster for construction materials. During the 1980s, Montreuil converted the abandoned quarry into a public park for the community.
Bird watching is a common activity here, with dozens of species living in the different habitats throughout the year. Visitors often gather at observation points to see migrating birds and seasonal residents in their natural surroundings.
The park can be accessed from several entrances located along Avenue Jean Moulin, Rue des Charmes, Rue des Quatre Ruelles, and Rue Paul Doumer. Multiple entry points make it easy to start your visit from different areas of Montreuil.
From spring to autumn, traditional breeds of goats and cattle graze on the central meadow. These animals naturally maintain the grassland while reducing the need for mechanical mowing and maintenance.
