Résidence Super-Montparnasse, Residential tower in 15th arrondissement, France.
Super-Montparnasse residence is a 91.9 meter tall building with 30 floors designed in a cross shape to bring natural light into every apartment. The complex contains 265 homes and underwent major energy efficiency upgrades in 2014 and 2015.
Architect Bernard Zehrfuss designed and completed this residential building in 1969 during a major period of urban growth in Paris. The era shaped the city with new types of apartment buildings and construction methods.
The building reflects modernist design principles from the 1960s through its concrete entryway and distinctive glass tile facades. Residents experience daily life in a structure that represents a specific architectural vision of how urban apartments should be organized and lived in.
The building stands near Montparnasse railway station making it easy to reach by public transport. Visitors should know this is primarily a residential building, though its striking design can be appreciated from outside.
A swimming pool and solarium crown the rooftop, offering residents views above the city. These rare amenities at roof level made the building unusually luxurious for a residential tower when it was built.
