Walled enclosure of Vouvant

The walled enclosure of Vouvant is a medieval fortification with several towers and defensive walls made of crystalline schist and limestone surrounding the entire village. The structure displays typical features of medieval defense design with narrow openings and reinforced entrances.

The fortification was built between the late 12th and early 13th centuries as a defensive structure for the settlement. It received official recognition as a historic monument in 1984.
