Casse Massion, Mountain summit in Savoie, France
Casse Massion is a mountain summit in the French Alps reaching 2433 meters above sea level. From this peak, you can see across the Arvan valley and toward the surrounding high peaks of the Haute Maurienne region.
A cross dedicated to Mont Tissot now stands at the summit, having replaced an earlier marker in 2012. This monument reflects a tradition of marking the peak that began in 1842.
The nearby Espace Culturel functions as a regional center with a movie theater and facilities that showcase local mountain traditions and activities.
The hike to reach the summit is challenging and requires good hiking boots and proper equipment. Starting early in the day is advisable to experience better weather conditions and lighter crowds on the trail.
On very clear days, Mont Blanc becomes visible from this vantage point in the distance. The route to reach the summit passes through several small alpine villages and crosses remarkably varied terrain.
