Pic d'Arrouyes

Pic d'Arrouyes is a mountain summit in the Hautes-Pyrenees that rises to 2,209 meters (7,247 feet). The peak offers views across the Larboust valley and the surrounding mountain ranges of the Luchonnais region.

The mountain developed through shepherding traditions, with herders creating routes across the valleys over many centuries. These established pathways later facilitated trade between neighboring communities and shaped how people moved through the mountains.

The mountain's name reflects the old routes established by shepherds and traders over centuries. You can still see traces of these pathways in the landscape when walking through the area today.

The summit is accessible via several hiking routes with varying difficulty levels, and the climb typically takes several hours depending on your starting point. Weather can change quickly at this elevation, so come prepared with appropriate gear and check conditions before heading out.

The summit is an excellent spot for watching the night sky because there is very little light pollution at this elevation. After dark, the stars appear much brighter and clearer than from the valleys below.
