Pic Hadairra, Summit in Pyrenees, France
Pic Hadairra is a mountain summit in the Pyrenees located on the border between France and Spain at an elevation of about 417 meters. From the top, views extend across both sides of the mountain range with different landscapes visible on each country's territory.
The summit has marked the natural boundary between French and Spanish territory since 1659 when the border between the two countries was established. This role as a border marker has defined the location for centuries.
Local shepherds use the paths around the summit during their seasonal movements with livestock between high mountain pastures in summer and lower valleys in winter.
Marked hiking trails lead to the summit from nearby parking areas, with the best visiting conditions between May and October. During these months, weather is more stable and the paths are safest for walkers.
The summit features distinctive rock formations that create natural shelters for local wildlife species, a detail hikers often overlook. These geological structures serve as home to different animal species found throughout the region.
