Located at 1039 meters above sea level, Puig de l'Estelle rises between the Mediterranean Sea and the Canigó massif in the French Pyrenees.

The surrounding area contains remnants of ancient iron mines that operated from Roman times until their final closure in September 1999.

The Refuge de Batère, constructed in 1953, marks the starting point of hiking trails and represents the mining heritage of this mountainous region.

The hiking trail from Refuge de Batère to the summit extends 8.9 kilometers with an elevation gain of 470 meters, requiring approximately 3.5 hours.

From the summit, hikers observe the Mediterranean Sea, Corbières region, and multiple Cathar castles scattered across the surrounding landscape.
