Pont de Sablons

Pont de Sablons is a suspension bridge carrying road traffic and pedestrians across the Rhône River between two municipalities, spanning approximately 185 meters from bank to bank. Its cable system supports the wooden deck above the water, allowing continuous passage for both vehicles and foot traffic.

Built in 1828, it stands as an early example of suspension bridge technology in France, appearing during the industrial growth of the Rhône Valley. This pioneering work demonstrated how modern engineering could connect separated riverbanks more effectively.

The bridge functions as a meeting point for local celebrations between the communities of Sablons and Serrières, strengthening regional connections through generations.
