Pointe de la Fenêtre, Mountain peak in Vanoise National Park, France.
Pointe de la Fenêtre is a mountain peak at 2,268 meters in the Graian Alps within Vanoise National Park, surrounded by protected alpine landscapes. The summit sits in a zone of alpine meadows, rocky slopes, and several mountain ridges that extend toward neighboring plateaus.
The paths to the summit follow old trading routes used for centuries by shepherds and travelers crossing the French Alps. These trails were reinforced over time by the same people who regularly moved between valleys and high plateaus.
The mountain shelters along the route display traditional Savoyard construction with characteristic stone walls and local building methods adapted to harsh alpine conditions.
The ascent is challenging in winter and requires snow gear, snowshoes, and avalanche equipment for safe mountaineering. In warmer months the route is more accessible, but mountain experience and proper equipment remain necessary.
A narrow rock passage at around 2,239 meters marks the final stretch of the ascent and demands careful movement regardless of weather. This section is brief but technically engaging and often overlooked by experienced mountaineers.
