Église Saint-Martin de Sousceyrac

Saint-Martin Church stands 38 meters tall with a neo-gothic architectural design, featuring ornate sculptural details on its bell tower completed in 1897.

The current church, built between 1864 and 1897, replaced an earlier structure that contained Romanesque elements and was connected to a 12th-century Benedictine priory.

The church houses 19th-century furniture, modern stained glass windows from the Louis-Victor Gesta workshop, and a baroque altarpiece preserved in its crypt.

The church maintains regular religious services and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cahors, continuing a tradition of parish priests since the 14th century.

During construction, builders faced significant challenges establishing solid foundations, as documented in historical records from the town mayor of that period.
