Château du Nouvion

Château du Nouvion is an estate with a distinctive U-shaped layout, featuring a vaulted brick basement supporting the elevated main floor below. The main building rises through multiple stories and shows 19th-century construction with symmetrical lines throughout.

The estate was originally owned by Mary Stuart before passing to the princes of Condé, then underwent rebuilding from 1853 to 1856. This reconstruction replaced the earlier residence with a new structure reflecting the architectural tastes of that period.

The castle serves as a venue for local gatherings and community events that shape life in the Thiérache region. People come here to experience the spaces and surroundings while learning more about the area's heritage.

The grounds with forest trails offer visitors a chance to explore the surroundings while viewing the architecture from different angles. Guided tours are organized through the Thiérache Tourist Office and help you learn more about the estate and region.

The Duke of Guise and Isabella of France settled at the castle in 1899, where their first two children were born. This private chapter linked the estate to prominent noble families in French history.
