Borjomi

Located at 820 meters above sea level, Borjomi extends through the Mtkvari Valley, surrounded by mountains of the Lesser Caucasus range.

The area gained recognition in the 1800s when Russian military doctors discovered mineral water springs, leading to its development as a health resort.

The mineral water traditions shape the local identity, with residents maintaining centuries-old practices of water collection and distribution from natural springs.

Visitors can reach Borjomi by regular trains and buses from Tbilisi, with the journey taking approximately three hours through mountain landscapes.

The Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park contains 85,000 hectares of protected forest, making it one of the largest natural preserves in Europe.
