Alimos Municipality, Municipality near Saronic Gulf, Greece
The municipality of Alimos extends along the coast south of Athens, combining residential neighborhoods with seaside areas across multiple districts and streets.
The region evolved from an ancient fishing settlement called Halimous into a modern municipality, formally established through administrative reforms in July 1968.
The municipality retains connections to Thucydides, the classical historian from Halimous, whose image appears on the official emblem of Alimos.
The area connects to central Athens through multiple transportation options, including metro stations, tram lines, and bus services along Poseidonos Avenue.
Archeological excavations in Alimos revealed the rectangular amphitheater of Euonymos, demonstrating an unusual architectural design from classical antiquity.
