Isojärvi National Park

The park contains 19 square kilometers of pine and spruce forests, high cliffs, deep gorges, and numerous lakes connected by marked hiking paths.

The area served as a center for logging operations until 1982, when it was designated as a national park to preserve its natural environment.

Former lumberjack cabins and croft houses remain within the park grounds, providing insight into traditional Finnish forestry practices and rural life.

Visitors can access 33 kilometers of marked trails starting from either the Heretty or Kalalahti parking areas, with paths ranging from 3.5 to 20 kilometers.

American beavers, introduced in the 1930s, now maintain the forest landscape through their natural logging activities, leaving visible traces throughout the park.
