Salla

Salla is a municipality in Eastern Lapland spanning extensive forests, numerous lakes, and snowy landscapes. The region is shaped by its proximity to the Russian border and its role as a transport hub.

After World War II, sections of the territory were transferred to the Soviet Union, dividing the region. This historical event continues to shape the identity and border position of this Finnish area.
