Koski Tl, municipality in the region of Southwest Finland
Koski Tl is a municipality in the Finland Proper region, in southwestern Finland. It consists of open fields, patches of forest, and a handful of small villages spread across gently rolling terrain.
The municipality formed in the 17th century around a church parish that brought together the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. Over the centuries it remained a small, independent administrative unit and kept its rural character.
The "Tl" in the name stands for the historic province of Turku and Lääni, separating this place from a similarly named one in the Häme region. Visitors walking through the center will notice the old church, which still serves as a gathering point for local festivities and community events.
The center of Koski Tl is easy to explore on foot, with the church as a good starting point. Summer is the most convenient season for walking through the forests and visiting the small lakes nearby.
The parish records of Koski Tl go back to the late 17th century and are among the oldest surviving documents in the area. They have been digitized and made available online, making it possible to trace family histories across several centuries.
