Utti Jaeger Regiment, Special forces and aviation regiment in Utti, Finland
The Utti Jaeger Regiment is a training center for special forces and helicopter operations of the Finnish Army based in Kouvola. The facility operates with approximately 400 professional soldiers and around 220 conscripts who conduct advanced training exercises using NH90 tactical transport helicopters.
The regiment was created in 1997 by merging the Parachute Jaeger School, the Military Police School, and the Helicopter Wing of the Finnish armed forces. This consolidation brought together specialized training capabilities into a single integrated unit.
The regiment has deep ties to the local region and represents a key part of how Finland develops its military expertise. Local residents are familiar with the unit's important role in the country's defense preparation.
The base is equipped with modern helicopters and training facilities that require specialized knowledge to operate. Visitors should understand this is an active military installation with security restrictions.
Only about one in eight applicants passes the rigorous four-day examination required to enter the Special Forces Qualification Course. These demanding standards make the training among the toughest in the country.
