Lappila, Railway village in Kärkölä, Finland
Lappila is a railway village in Kärkölä situated along the Riihimäki-Lahti line with the Teuronjoki River nearby. The station forms the central point of the settlement at approximately 97 meters above sea level.
The settlement emerged in the 16th and 17th centuries as Kärkölä's newest area, built on what had previously been hunting grounds of the Vanaja region. The later arrival of the railway line transformed it into an important transport junction.
The Kylätupa community house serves as the meeting place where villagers gather for events and local music performances. It reflects how people here maintain traditions through regular gatherings and celebrations.
Regular regional trains connect the station to Riihimäki and Lahti, making the place easy to reach. Visitors can explore the surroundings best by using these train connections to move between different areas.
Since 2015, the local sports organization Lappila Nousu has hosted the Finnish Beach Wrestling Championships at this location. This surprising sporting tradition draws visitors who learn about this distinctive local event.
