Koprivnica

Koprivnica is a town in the Podravina region of northern Croatia, located roughly 70 kilometers northeast of Zagreb. It serves as the administrative center for the Koprivnica-Križevci County and covers an area of about 90 square kilometers.

King Lajos I granted the settlement the status of a free royal town in 1356, prompting its growth as a key trading post and defense point in the region. This charter marked the start of its importance as an urban hub in northern Croatia.

The city center holds three religious buildings that shape its appearance: the Church of Saint Nicholas, the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, and the Franciscan Monastery of the Virgin Mary. These structures stand as gathering places that define how locals move through and experience the central squares.

The Tourist Board office at Zrinski Square provides visitors with helpful information about local attractions, accommodations, and connections to the broader region. This office makes it easy to plan exploration of the town and surrounding areas.

The town is home to the headquarters of Podravka, a major food company that created the seasoning product Vegeta in 1959 and distributed it worldwide. This company shaped the area's economic growth and international recognition.
