Sokolac Castle, Medieval castle in Brinje, Croatia.
The stone fortification rises at 486 meters elevation, featuring a square three-story tower with facades decorated by lesenes and blind arcades.
Built around 1400, Sokolac Castle served as a residence for the Princes of Krk from the House of Frankopan during the medieval period.
The Court Chapel of the Holy Trinity within the castle represents the finest example of Late Gothic church architecture in continental Croatia.
The Croatian Conservation Institute started rehabilitation efforts in the 1960s, establishing a permanent exhibition about the castle complex history.
The castle takes its name from the Croatian word for hawk, which appears on the town of Brinje's coat of arms.
