Our Lady of the Snow Church

Our Lady of the Snow Church in Belec is a baroque building with four tall Corinthian columns supporting a central altar featuring a statue of Mary. Golden rays radiate from the statue, creating an ornate focal point within the sacred space.

The baroque structure was built between 1739 and 1741 under parish priest Paul Kunek and replaced an earlier Gothic church. The original building had been founded in 1674 by Elizabeth Keglevic.

The interior displays ceiling frescoes depicting the legend of Mary of the Snows and her appearance in Rome. These religious scenes define the visual experience as you enter the church space.

The church is regularly open to visitors and invites you to explore its architectural details and religious artworks. The baroque features are best appreciated in natural daylight and require no strenuous effort to view from inside.

The choir fence includes theological motifs such as the Tree of Knowledge with Adam and Eve figures. These elements are enhanced through lavish gold decoration, emphasizing their spiritual significance.
