Hercules Gate, Ancient gate in Croatia
Hercules Gate is one of the oldest architectural monuments in Pula.
The gate dates back to the 1st century BC, when Pula was a Roman settlement.
It features a relief of Hercules' head, symbolizing his mythical founding of the city.
Visitors to Pula can find Hercules Gate at the end of Kandlerova Street.
Unlike other Roman gates, it has only a single arch and no passageways for pedestrians.
