Biokovo Nature Park

Biokovo Nature Park is a mountain range that stretches between the Adriatic Sea and inland Dalmatia, connecting different landscapes within its protected area. It contains hiking trails, viewpoints, and a botanical garden that reveal different sides of the natural environment.

The area received protected status in 1981 to preserve its geological formations and plant and animal life. This decision helped secure an important natural landscape for the future.

The Kotišina Botanical Garden displays over 300 native plant species from the mountains and Mediterranean region, carefully maintained by Franciscan monks. Visitors can walk through arranged paths and experience the diversity of local flora directly.

Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant conditions for visiting, as temperatures are milder and fewer people are around. Sturdy footwear is important since many paths are steep and uneven.

The Skywalk is a glass platform that juts out from a mountainside, offering a direct view down to the Makarska Riviera. This structure brings visitors to the edge of a cliff and creates an unusual experience.
