Japetić, Mountain summit near Jastrebarsko, Croatia

Japetić is the highest summit of the Samobor range, rising to 879 metres near Jastrebarsko. An iron pyramid stands on the top, brought from Sljeme and installed in 1960. The peak lies on the Jaskanski hiking trail, and the summit opens views over northwestern Croatia and neighbouring Slovenia.

The mountain became increasingly developed as a hiking destination in the mid-20th century, leading to the construction of the observation tower in 1960. This period marked the growing interest of the region in recreational activities in the Samobor range.

The summit sits on the Jaskanski planinarski put, a hiking route that brings walkers from Jastrebarsko and Samobor as well as from neighbouring Slovenia. From 1999 to 2007 the top hosted the Japetić Star Party, an annual gathering of amateur astronomers organised by the Astronomical Society Beskraj of Zagreb, later moved to Petrova gora because of light pollution from Jastrebarsko.

The summit lies on the Jaskanski planinarski put, the Jastrebarsko hiking trail, so it can be reached on foot along marked routes. The iron pyramid at the top was brought from Sljeme in 1960. The peak is a popular outing for people from Samobor, Jastrebarsko, Zagreb and Slovenia.
