Vitány Castle, Medieval fortress ruins in Vértessomlón, Hungary.

The stone walls of Vitány Castle rise 6 meters high with defensive towers reaching 2.5 meters in thickness on the northern slopes of Vértes Mountains.

Built during the second half of the 13th century, Vitány Castle changed ownership multiple times until imperial forces destroyed its structure by explosives in 1598.

The castle represents the medieval Hungarian defensive architecture and serves as a research site for the Kuny Domokos County Museum of Tata.

The castle ruins remain partially hidden by surrounding forest, requiring visitors to approach closely to examine the remaining stone structures.

Located near the 417-meter Nyerges Mountain, the fortress walls contain architectural elements from different periods of Hungarian medieval construction techniques.
