Dublin Castle, Medieval castle in central Dublin, Ireland
Dublin Castle features a combination of medieval towers, Georgian state apartments, and modern government buildings arranged around two primary courtyards.
The castle served as the seat of British rule in Ireland from 1204 until 1922, when it was transferred to the newly formed Irish government.
The State Apartments display an extensive collection of Irish artworks, furniture, and decorative objects spanning multiple centuries of Irish craftsmanship.
Visitors can choose between guided tours lasting 60 minutes or self-guided exploration of the castle grounds from 9:45 AM to 5:45 PM daily.
The medieval undercroft contains remnants of Viking and Norman structures, including the original castle walls dating from the 13th century.
