Tara Hill

Tara Hill is a mountain summit in County Wexford, rising to 253 meters above sea level. From the top, visitors can see across the Wexford coastline, stretching from Courtown harbor to Castletown Point.

An old church site called Kilcavan was established on the northern side of the mountain, showing early Christian presence in the region. This location marks a period of religious activity that shaped the local area.

The mountain holds deep connections to local folklore, with numerous reports of unexplained lights and apparitions in its woodland areas.

Two marked trails run through the mountain, offering different routes for walkers to explore the terrain. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as conditions can be muddy and weather can change quickly on the slopes.

The mountain qualifies as a Marilyn hill, a classification based on its prominence of approximately 198 meters. This geological feature places it within a special category recognized by hill walkers and climbers.
