Nehora, Agricultural settlement in Lakhish Regional Council, Israel
Nehora is a moshav in the Lakhish region of southern Israel, set on a gentle rise in the Shephelah lowlands. It has a small shopping area, a regional school serving nearby communities, and road access via Route 352.
Nehora was founded in 1956 as part of a government plan to settle the Lakhish region. That plan created a network of villages across a part of the country that had few permanent settlements before.
In a moshav, families farm their own plots but share certain communal services and decisions. Walking through Nehora, you can see working fields alongside family homes, which gives the place a rhythm tied to the agricultural seasons.
Nehora is most easily reached by car, and Route 352 passes through the area directly. The shopping area and school make it a useful stop if you are traveling through the southern Shephelah.
Nehora serves as the seat of the Lakhish Regional Council, which coordinates services for around 15 nearby settlements. This means the small village holds administrative offices that cover a much wider rural area than its size might suggest.
