Hagor, Agricultural cooperative moshav in Drom HaSharon Regional Council, Israel
Hagor is an agricultural cooperative moshav located between Rosh HaAyin and Kfar Saba in the Drom HaSharon Regional Council. The settlement sits at an elevation of 39 meters above sea level and spreads across cultivated farmland that shapes its character.
Palmach veterans, particularly from the Ninth Battalion, founded Hagor in 1949 as a cooperative agricultural settlement. The establishment was created to house immigrants from Middle Eastern and North African countries seeking new lives.
The name comes from Psalm 45:3, referring to the Hebrew word for girdle or belt, linking the place to biblical language and meaning.
The settlement is accessible via main roads connecting it to nearby towns and cities. Educational facilities for residents are arranged in surrounding communities, with schools available at different levels in the region.
Two former Chiefs of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Gabi Ashkenazi and Dan Halutz, were born and raised in this small farming community. Their paths show how significant military leaders emerged from this rural settlement.
