Garden Tomb, Christian holy site in Jerusalem
The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb in Jerusalem which was unearthed in 1867 and has subsequently been considered by some Christians to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The Garden Tomb was discovered in 1867, however, its association with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ only began in the late 19th century.
The Garden Tomb is an important pilgrimage site for many Christian denominations.
The Garden Tomb is open to visitors and offers guided tours.
Unlike the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Garden Tomb is located outside the city walls.
